Want your nightcap to feel a bit more special at home? The CWS Exclusive Ice Sphere mold makes one large, round ball of ice. It is made for whiskey and spirit-forward cocktails.
Big ice is perfect in an Old Fashioned, a Negroni or a Boulevardier. These drinks are meant for slow sipping, and a sphere keeps them cold. It also looks great in a rocks glass when you pour for guests after dinner.
Why a sphere? A ball has less surface area than a cube holding the same amount of water. Less surface touching the drink means it melts more slowly. Your drink waters down less, so the flavor stays true for longer.
Using it is simple. Follow the steps printed on the box, fill it with water and freeze. Sphere molds need several hours in the freezer, so plan ahead. Boiling the water first can give you clearer ice.
