Josh Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon is the wine that started the whole brand. Vintner Joseph Carr founded Josh Cellars in 2007 as a tribute to his father, Josh. This Cabernet came first and set the standard for every bottle after it.
The grapes come from growers across California. The team puts quality and care first, and the wine aims for balance over raw power. Wine Enthusiast later named Josh Cellars its American Winery of the Year in 2021.
Lift the glass and you pick up ripe dark fruit, cinnamon and a touch of toasted oak. The palate is round and juicy. Blackberry leads, then toasted hazelnut and cinnamon. Soft hints of vanilla and oak fill in the back.
Fine tannins keep it smooth from the first sip to the last. It feels full without getting heavy. Wine Enthusiast gave the 2019 vintage 91 points.
This is an easy red wine to share. Pour it with well-seasoned beef, pork or lamb. It also works with a rich chocolate dessert. Open it for a weeknight dinner, a birthday, or a casual evening at home.
