When Old Potrero began distilling in 1994, it produced the first legal pot-distilled rye whiskey made in the United States since Prohibition. The goal was straightforward: bring back rye, the grain that America's earliest distillers worked with, using methods that predate modern column stills.
This single barrel bottling is made entirely from malted rye and run in small batches through a traditional pot still, a technique that draws as much from Scottish single malt practice as from early American rye. Bottled at 65.16% ABV in a 700 ml format, it carries notes of coffee and espresso alongside gentle sweetness, spice and caramel.
