Penner Ash Pinot Noir originates from the United States, within the Oregon region and the renowned Willamette Valley subregion. The winery was established in 1998 by founding winemaker Lynn Penner Ash, who built the estate's reputation by developing long standing relationships with local grower neighbours and friends. Under the current direction of winemaker Kate Ayres, the estate continues its philosophy of crafting deeply textured, vineyard driven wines that explore multiple distinct sub-AVAs to capture the true essence of the valley.
Wine Description
This red wine displays a bright ruby appearance and possesses a medium body with a beautifully plush, round, and polished texture. The sensory profile is highly expressive, opening with an aromatic nose of blackberries, fresh plums, and sweet red berries, gracefully accented by undertones of orange peel, floral tea, and warm vanilla oak. On the palate, it delivers a juicy wave of crushed raspberries, cherries, and wild blueberries, layered with complex notes of sarsaparilla, clove, and a subtle cocoa sweetness. The finish is long, fresh, and elegant, driven by balanced acidity and firmly framed, finely tuned tannins.
Food Pairing
The vibrant acidity, smooth body, and nuanced fruit and spice profile of this Pinot Noir make it an incredibly food friendly and versatile selection.
Meats and Poultry: Pairs beautifully with classic roasted chicken with herbs, duck breast served with a cherry reduction, or lean cuts like filet mignon and herb crusted lamb chops.
Seafood: Suggested pairings include meaty fish options that complement the wine's acidity without being overpowered, such as grilled or pan seared salmon and seared rare tuna steak.
Savoury and Earthy: Complements wild mushroom risotto, caramelized onion and thyme tartlets, or a roasted beet salad with goat cheese.
