Tiger Shark is a standout Citra-focused Pale Ale from Victoria’s Phillips Brewing & Malting Co. It was crafted to deliver the intense aromatic experience of a modern IPA but with a lower alcohol content and a lighter body, making it a quintessential "session" beer. Known for its approachable nature and bright, tropical personality, it has become a go-to for craft drinkers who want big hop flavor without the heavy punch of a traditional IPA.
Beer Description
This Pale Ale pours a bright, slightly hazy golden color with a frothy white head and a moderate amount of carbonation.
Aroma: It features a vibrant and highly aromatic nose dominated by the Citra hop. Expect intense notes of passionfruit, guava, and zesty grapefruit, with a very subtle floral backdrop.
Palate: The flavor is crisp and clean. It leads with a light, bready malt sweetness that quickly moves aside for a wave of tropical fruit flavors. It has a medium-to-light body and a smooth mouthfeel, finishing with a gentle, refreshing bitterness that doesn't overstay its welcome.
Profile: It has a sessionable ABV of 4.7% and a moderate bitterness of 35 IBU, striking a perfect balance between flavor intensity and drinkability.
Technical Notes: Brewed with a focus on the Citra hop variety, which is used liberally in the dry-hopping stage to maximize aroma. The grain bill is kept intentionally light to ensure the tropical hop characteristics remain the undisputed star of the show.
