The 2019 Promontory is an exceptional and highly acclaimed vintage, widely considered a benchmark for this rugged hillside estate. Benefiting from a long, temperate growing season, the wine displays an incredible marriage of power and ethereal weightlessness. It features a profound aromatic profile of blackcurrants, crushed violets, and graphite, seamlessly integrated with notes of wet stone, camphor, and forest floor. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet remarkably vibrant, showcasing a dense core of dark fruit framed by the estate's signature "gravelly" tannins and a deep, mineral-driven tension. The finish is exceptionally long and resonant, reflecting the wild, untamed terroir of the canyon.
99 Points - James Suckling
Purple-fruit, dark-licorice and conifer aromas follow through to a medium to full body with firmness and a linear flow that goes on for minutes. Racy tannins and focus. Give this until at least 2028.
