This elegant Chardonnay hails from the United States, specifically California’s renowned Santa Lucia Highlands AVA in Monterey County. Talbott Vineyards, founded in 1982 by Robb Talbott, has long been celebrated for its commitment to single-vineyard expressions, particularly from its Sleepy Hollow Vineyard, which is recognized as one of California’s grand cru sites for Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The estate’s focus on meticulous vineyard management and minimalist winemaking allows the unique terroir of Sleepy Hollow to shine through each vintage.
Wine Description
This vintage displays a brilliant straw-yellow colour in the glass. The nose opens with inviting aromas of ripe pear, golden apple, lemon curd, and subtle hints of toasted brioche and vanilla, courtesy of well-integrated oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet vibrant, delivering layers of stone fruit, citrus zest, and a touch of honeyed richness. A vein of minerality and bright acidity brings remarkable balance and freshness, leading to a long, creamy finish accented by notes of baking spice and roasted nuts.
